Firefighters responded to a fire at an Omaha (NE) chemical company Monday that went to three alarms, according to reports.
KETV reported that the fire that occurred at the Nox Crete facility triggered an evacuation alert for those between 13th and 20th, Leavenworth to Martha, while others nearby were urged to shelter in place.
Battalion Chief Scott Fitzpatrick told reporters that firefighters at first struggled to access the fire, but then realized it was bigger than they thought. Companies withdrew knowing there were chemicals and propane bottles on site. Part of the building collapsed, rupturing propane containers and causing explosions.
