The mask shields can simulate both blackout and smoked-out conditions, giving firefighters the ability to train in zero- and low-visibility conditions that mimic real-world scenarios.
“When we go into a burning building, it’s not like you see on TV,” said Cody Cavin, a career firefighter and co-owner of BA Shields. “After all the utilities have been cut, the interior of the structure is completely pitch black, especially at night, and probably filled with smoke. The SCBA mask shields are 100% made in the United States with locally sourced materials at the BA Shields manufacturing facility in Nevada. Impervious to water, debris and impacts, the shields can be donned and doffed in seconds. In addition to replicating dark and smoky conditions during training, the shields protect firefighters’ SCBA lenses from scratches, scuffs and abrasions when not in use. The shields can even be personalized with a custom photo or logo.
