Austin (TX) Fire Department Responds to Fire in Vacant Senior Facility

According to a report from CBSAustin, the Austin (TX) Fire Department (AFD) responded to the second-alarm fire around 3:53 a.m. at the permanently closed Southwood Care Center at 3759 Valley View Road.

The structure was east of Menchaca Road and just north of US 290.



The AFD posted on social media at around 5:20 a.m. that they had successfully knocked down the fire and were working to extinguish hot spots.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is now under investigation.
