MD Firefighter Dies After Contracting COVID-19

The U.S. Fire Administration released a notice about the death of a Maryland firefighter who had contracted the coronavirus.

In December 2021, Paramedic/Firefighter Robert “Bobby” Anthony Jones, 59, with the Reese and Community Volunteer Fire Company contracted COVID-19 while performing his duties serving the citizens of Carroll County, Maryland. After a hard fight and multiple complications because of the virus, Jones passed away on January 20, 2022.

According to the Carroll County Times, Firefighter Jones’ death was the first line-of-duty death for the agency. He is survived by his mother, father, four siblings, two stepdaughters, and two grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife.
