Two MO Firefighters Unhurt After Slipping on Ice in Low Temps at House Fire

According to a report from KMOV, freezing temperatures caused two firefighters to slip and fall on ice as they fought a house fire in Ballwin early Friday morning.

Firefighters said the fire erupted at around 1:00 a.m. in the basement of the home in the 900 block of Toni Marie Court. Crews said the fire’s location and the single-digit temperatures made it hard to extinguish from handlines freezing and gear collecting ice.

Metro West Fire Chief Mike Digman said that the two firefighters were evaluated on scene by paramedics and both returned to continue working the incident.

One person was transported to a local hospital. The home’s residents were unharmed, but the home suffered major damage to its first two floors.
