NJ Safety Officer Dies After Emergency Response

A veteran firefighter with the Jackson Township (NJ) Volunteer Fire Company has passed away after an extrication response that was ultimately cancelled, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.

On Saturday, October 23, 2021, Safety Officer Nicholas Prioli, 89, responded to the fire department for a call for a vehicle extrication. He left the firehouse and was returning home when he experienced a medical emergency. Emergency personnel responded to the scene where they found Safety Officer Prioli in cardiac arrest. He passed away shortly thereafter.

According to a report from NJ.com, Safety Officer Prioli had 26 years with the department.
