WA Fire Lieutenant Dies from Fall During Response

The U.S. Fire Administration released a notice on the death of a fire lieutenant in Washington State who died after a tragic fall.

On Thursday, August 26, 2021, Lieutenant/Paramedic Cody Traber of the Spokane County Fire District #9 responded to a reported brush fire. While investigating the fire, he fell from the Wandermere Bridge at Highway 395 and passed away from the injuries he sustained in the fall.

Lieutenant/Paramedic Traber was 41 years old. He was an 18 year veteran of the District and previously served at Stevens County Fire District #1, Cheney Fire Department, and the Department of Natural Resources Arcadia District. He leaves behind his wife and four young children.
