OH Firefighter Collapses at Scene of House Fire, Dies

The U.S. Fire Administration has shared its report on the death of a firefighter with the Nelsonville (OH) Division of Fire who passed away Sunday after collapsing at the scene of a house fire.

On Sunday, May 2, 2021, Senior Firefighter Jeffrey Eugene Armes, while at the scene of a residential fire, collapsed. Emergency personnel immediately performed CPR and advanced life support care.

Firefighter Armes was transported to the OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Firefighter Armes was 38 years old and, according to a report from the Columbus Dispatch, had been with the department since 2011. He is survived by his wife, Lezlee, and their children.
