Two Horses Killed in Fire at Belmont Park, NY

Two racehorses perished in a fire at Belmont Park on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont, New York, on Tuesday evening, April 13, 2021.

Firefighters were called to the scene at Barn 60 just after 6:00 p.m.

Incoming units were advised to use caution as several horses were running free, but the animals were quickly brought under control by track personnel.

At least three people were treated for minor injuries and smoke inhalation.

Nassau County Fire Marshals responded to the scene.
