A mother and four children escaped a raging three-alarm fire in their home in South Richmond Hill in the borough of Queens on Friday, October 9.

Fire Department of New York (FDNY) companies responded to the two-story attached private dwelling on 123rd Street near 95th Avenue around 10:30 a.m. and found a heavy volume of fire on the first floor.

Aggressive interior operations commenced as the fire extended to the adjacent exposure.

Several firefighters suffered minor injuries with one being transported to an area hospital.

The incident was placed under control within an hour.
