SVI TRUCKS hired Joel Konecky as its new western sales manager. Konecky brings a combined 17 years of fire truck sales experience from Smeal Fire Apparatus and Spartan Motors to his regional role, which encompasses states west of Colorado, Nebraska, and the Dakotas. He is a third-generation volunteer firefighter with 30 years of experience with Mead (NE) Fire and Rescue (MFR), where he has held every position at the 30-member department, including 10 years as chief. At MFR, Konecky implemented an annual budget and apparatus replacement strategy that rolled the department’s 35-year-old units into a 20-year replacement cycle for fire apparatus and a 10-year replacement strategy for ambulances. www.svitrucks.com.

JEFFREY JACKSON

JEFFREY JACKSON was selected as the new chief of the Charleston (WV) Fire Department (CFD). Jackson has been with the CFD since October 1994. There, he has served in numerous roles, most recently as administrative chief. In addition to Jackson’s selection as chief, the CFD also announced that Assistant Chief Trevor Dysart will be the CFD’s new chief of operations and Assistant Chief Fred Dunbar was assigned to the B-shift as a battalion chief.

RICHARD MANN

RICHARD MANN was named chief of the fire and emergency medical services for the city of College Station, Texas. Mann was previously the executive assistant chief for the Houston (TX) Fire Department (HFD). He is a 31-year veteran of the HFD, which is the third-largest fire department in the U.S. and the largest accredited department in the world. There, he managed a large portion of HFD’s $510 million budget during challenging economic conditions such as Hurricanes Ike and Harvey.
