Cars burn in Florida lot

More than 3,500 vehicles were damaged or destroyed in a Friday night fire near a Florida airport, according to reports.

The Fort Myers News-Press reported on the fire. The cars were in a grassy area used as an overflow lot by car rental companies that service Southwest Florida International Airport, and none were occupied.

Witnesses saw and heard multiple explosions and saw flames leaping up into the air.

The fire was under control by Saturday and was under investigation.
