Paramedic Holster

A rescue holster designed by a paramedic to provide quick access to tools is available from Espoir Company, Inc. The unit provides instant access to seven rescue tools including a spring-loaded window punch for car rescues; 7 1/4 -inch curved bandage scissors; 6 1/4 -inch straight and curved Kelly clamps; folding Buck knife; penlight with battery; and heavy duty, adult-size Velket tourniquet.

Scanner

A crystal-less scanner radio with 18 channels has been introduced by Electra Company. The Bearcat 211 features direct channel access allowing the user to manually select channels directly. In the radio’s automatic scan mode, the channels can be scanned at either five or 15 channels per second, permitting closer monitoring of desired frequencies. The unit also features a built-in digital clock and automatic squelch.

Siren

A siren designed for volunteer firefighters has been introduced by the Signal Division of Federal Signal Corporation. The Federal Firebolt, Model VFSl, adds sound to the emergency warning light used by most volunteer firefighters who use their personal autos to get to emergencies.

The unit has the power to drive a 58-watt speaker, and produces wail and yelp signals, which are controlled by a three-position toggle switch.

Suction Aspirator

Fairfield Medical Products Corporation has introduced a suction aspirator unit specifically designed to meet and exceed 1979 Federal specifications, KKK-A-1822. Features include a new vacuum control system which allows the operator to choose and hold vacuum setting and a color-coded emergency shut-off valve which instantly discontinues the vacuum.

Other features are the 3 1/2-inch diameter vacuum gauge with a readout from 0 to 760 mm Hg; a 1000 cc unbreakable collection bottle that is operational with an automatic overflow valve or disposable bags; and the Fairfield Rail Clamp and eight-inch section of Raildex.

Pocket Monitor

Regency Communications offers a small alert monitor, which will automatically respond to coded signals with a tone or received voice message. The Pocket Alert measures 4 1/2 X 2 1/4 X one inch and weighs less than 8 1/2-ounces. It also has a two-tone sequential decoder and operates on VHF high band.

Coupler

A dual unit voice and EKG coupler, the 2064 Communicator, is being introduced by Medical Research Laboratories, Inc. The unit incorporates two pieces of equipment; a handset coupler and reel for use with a telephone, and an audio unit which provides a mouthpiece and earpiece for communication over the telemetry system and the lead for the modulated EKG output from a monitor scope.
