The Fort Campbell (KY) Fire Department uses this DANKO unit as an ARFF vehicle at the local airport and to protect a wooded area at the rear used for helicopter response, according to Chief Michael R. Boyd.

The League City (TX) Fire Department designed its SVI TRUCKS rescue unit with a nonwalk-in body for optimum storage and a custom cab for more seating, explains Chief Greg Tonnies. The unit is equipped for light haz mat, water, confined space, and light trench rescue in addition to air filling, RIT, and other fireground support.

Features/Equipment:

  • SPARTAN Gladiator Evolution MFD chassis with 186-inch wheelbase and 10-inch raised roof cab with seven seats;
  • CUMMINS ISL 370-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • 18-foot nonwalk-in body with ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors;
  • SCBA storage rack with six 6,000-psi bottle air cascade system and fill station;

The Haledon (NJ) Fire Department designed these two FERRARA pumpers with short wheelbases for maneuverability and station room restrictions; large water tanks allow a stronger initial attack, explains Chief Robert DiVirgilio.

The Grand Lake Township Fire Department in Twig, Minnesota, designed its ROSENBAUER pumper to fit in a small station and to maneuver down narrow streets and driveways, explains Captain Grant Gimpel. For added safety, it has a top-mount pump panel and low speedlays.

    The Akron (NY) Fire Company uses this PIERCE pumper/tanker with a 2,500-gallon water tank as a first-out attack pumper; it is followed by a 3,000-gallon tanker. Chief Glenn Joachimiak says the combined 5,500 gallons of water allow the hydrant engine time to hook up. Only one-half to two-thirds of the district is hydranted.

    The Chelsea (ME) Fire Department purchased this E-ONE demo to replace an old apparatus that had broken down, according to Chief Shawn Ramage. The unit is smaller than its predecessor but has more compartment space, and it responds to vehicle accidents and provides fireground support.
