Chief Edward C. Tiano

Chief Edward C. Tiano of the Darien, Conn., Fire Department died June 11 in Norwalk, Conn., Hospital. He was stricken after attending a meeting at the firehouse and died shortly after he was taken in an ambulance to the hospital.

A member of the volunteer department for 34 years, he retired as chief a few years back and two years ago he again was elected chief of the department. Ever since his first election as chief, he had been fire marshal for the Darien Fire District.

Tiano was a member of the Darien Board of Fire Commissioners and at one time was its chairman. He also served the town as a special policeman and as a constable. A Marine Corps veteran, Tiano was a member of the New England Fire Marshals Association and the Connecticut Fire Marshals Association.
