The St. Clairsville, OH, Fire Department recently took delivery of a rescue-pumper built by Sutphen. The unit is built on a custom chassis with aluminum body. It has a Detroit 8V-71T diesel engine and Allison HT-740 automatic transmission.

It is equipped with a Hale single-stage 1,500-gpm pump and 450gallon booster tank. It also has a 6-kw diesel generator and a frontmounted 4-ton winch. Hose carried consists of 1,000 feet of 4-inch and four 1 3/4-inch and 2 1/2-inch attack lines.

The Saddlebrook, NJ, Volunteer Fire Department has recently placed in service a new Pierce Snorkel with a 75-foot boom. The unit is mounted on a Pierce Arrow chassis with a Detroit 8V 71TA diesel and Allison HT 740 automatic transmission. It has a Waterous two-stage 1,000-gpm pump and a 200-gallon water tank. The platform has a 1,050-pound payload capacity.

One special feature on this unit is a mask system that provides an air system for the driver while he is operating the unit.

The FMC Corporation recently built a pumper for the Cobb County, GA, Fire Department. The pumper is mounted on a Kenworth L-700 tilt cab chassis with five-man seating capacity. It is powered by a Detroit 6V 92TA diesel engine with Allison HT 740D automatic transmission. The pump is a John Bean 1,500-gpm single-stage unit, and the water tank holds 500 gallons.

The Pennsauken, NJ, Fire Department has accepted delivery of a Snorkel type apparatus, manufactured by Grumman Emergency Products. The apparatus is built on a heavy-duty 56,000 GVWR Pemfab Truck custom fire chassis on a wheelbase of 236 inches.

Special features include: triple frame rail construction with fish plate that provides for a section modulus of 31.57, an 18,000-pound front axle, 38,000-pound tandem rear axle with no-spin feature on forward tandem axle, 445-hp diesel engine, four-speed electronically controlled transmission, and a galvanneal low-profile contour cab with a seating capacity for five men.

The Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department in Zanesville, OH, has accepted delivery of a Quality Custom pumper by Quality Manufacturing Inc. It features a 1,000-gallon polyester tank, a 1,000gpm Waterous CSYBX pump, and a Duplex D-260 chassis. It is powered by a Detroit 6-V71T engine and has an Allison MT-644 transmission.

Westmoreland County, PA, has recently placed in service a haz-mat unit built by Rescue Systems Inc. The unit is mounted on a White Xpeditor WX-42 two-man tilt cab chassis powered by an L-10 Cummins diesel engine and Allison 5-speed MT 654 CR transmission.

This unit has a Darley HM 350-gpm pump and 350-gallon fiberglass water tank. A unique feature is that it has a pump and roll capability and four separate 20-gallon foam tanks to deliver emulsifier, AFFF, Type 1 acid, and Type 2 alkaline foams.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Technical Center Fire Department, Pomona, NJ, has recently put into service “Crew 15,” a 1985 Duplex/Walters foam pumper. With body work by Duplex, this unit features a Walters firefighting package, including: a 750-gallon water tank, a 100-gallon foam (AFFF) tank with a feecon APH 1.5 proportioning system, and a 1,000-gpm Hale QSF 100 two-stage pump. The unit is powered by a Detroit 8.2T diesel engine.

The Longport, NJ, Fire Department is operating a light-duty pumperrescue sold by Fireline Sales and Service Co. It is mounted on a GMC Sierra 3,500 chassis with Reading body customized by Grumman.

The vehicle has a 200-gallon water tank with 200 feet of 1 1/4-inch hose mounted on a reel and a crosslay of 500 feet of 1 3/4-inch hose.

This 75-foot model aerial unit delivered to the Rantoul, IL, Fire Department has a Pierce high-strength steel ladder and is mounted on a Pierce Dash cab and chassis by Pierce Manufacturing Inc. The Pierce ladder features a 400-pound tip load at any elevation up to full extension.

Powered by a 6V92TA Detroit diesel engine with Allison HT740D transmission, the tilt Dash cab has a chrome bumper. The unit is also equipped with a Waterous CSYBX single-stage 1,250-gpm pump and a 400-gallon tank.

This new light rescue truck was placed in service by the Duncan Falls, OH, Volunteer Department. It was built by Frontline Emergency Vehicles on a 1985 Ford E-350 chassis. It has three large compartments on each side for storage, as well as a bench inside where four firefighters can don their breathing apparatus while en route.
