3M Thin Film

3M introduced its latest offerings in reflective solutions for workers who need flame resistant wear with the launch of 3M Scotchlite Reflective Material – 8735 Flame Resistant Transfer Film and 3M Scotchlite Reflective Material – 9740 Industrial Wash Flame Resistant Transfer Film. These two products provide protection from heat, flame and arc flash hazards with the added benefit of stitchless bonding for a more efficient application process and increased design options for wearers.

Scotchlite reflective material – 8735 flame resistant transfer film and Scotchlite reflective material – 9740 industrial wash flame resistant transfer film are both NFPA 70E compliant (when applied to NFPA 70E compliant fabrics) and boast a sustained durability of up to 50 washes, enhancing the garment’s life by decreasing the need to continually purchase new workwear. The films also offer enhanced comfort and reduced manufacturing costs, because they are laminated rather than sewn on.

By allowing broader garment applications, workers can move beyond the vest to incorporate flame resistant reflective material from everyday workwear options to T-shirts, rainwear, sweatshirts and outerwear. In addition, this new product solution is suitable for lettering and numbering on fire fighting turnout garments. The lamination process also removes the edge typically found on sewn-on products, which improves aesthetics, reduces weight and minimizes physical catch points that might lead to tearing.
