Peekskill (NY) Firefighter Dies After Fighting a Fire

Peekskill (NY) Firefighter Kevin Bristol, 48, died after fighting a small kitchen fire.

Bristol reportedly served 26 years with the Peekskill Fire Department, according to a news report. He apparently suffered a heart attack.

He is survived by his wife and three children.

This firefighter fatality is but one of many this year involving cardiac issues. On Saturday, a Tennessee Division of Forestry firefighter passed away due to a heart attack, while last week an Orange City (FL) firefighter died of an apparent heart attack after his shift. A number of others firefighters also were felled by heart attacks in early 2014, such as a Franklin (NY) volunteer fire chief who died while responding to a call.
