McNeil & Company E-Learning Training Program Hits 100,000 Course Milestone

McNeil & Company, a leading managing general insurance agent serving fire and emergency services organizations in 49 states, has announced that its exclusive e-Learning program has reached the milestone of 100,000 courses completed.

Approximately 85 percent of those courses were taken by firefighters, emergency service technicians and rescue personnel as part of McNeil & Company’s Emergency Services Insurance Program (ESIP), which has provided comprehensive insurance coverage for volunteer fire departments, career fire departments and volunteer rescue squads around the country since 1989.

Established in 2009, the e-Learning program makes it easy for firefighters and emergency services personnel of all experience and skill levels to make good decisions on the job. Among the benefits that McNeil’s e-Learning program offers to users are:

Convenience — E-Learning provides an efficient way to train emergency services personnel around their own schedules. McNeil’s e-Learning can be completed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from the station or from home, allowing individuals to use their time effectively.

Cost savings — The e-Learning program is free to all McNeil & Company insurance clients. Some emergency services organizations report saving as much as $15,000 per year by not paying for third-party training programs.

Efficient monitoring — Sophisticated, built-in tracking tools allow training officers to be more efficient in assigning and coordinating group training activity. The tools enable the tracking of every member of the department by name, course title, date and time of completion, and test results. A certificate of completion can be printed out and filed for each finished course.

McNeil & Company has tripled the size of its e-Learning program in the last year. In 2011, the company offered 32 courses and had completed around 20,000 overall course sessions. Today, McNeil & Company offers more than 100 courses and has reached more than 100,000 overall course sessions.

Each e-Learning module is created and designed by McNeil & Company in partnership with industry experts. Training courses cover general safety and human resources topics in addition to job-specific training. Sample course titles include Emergency Vehicle Backing, Firefighter Back Injury Prevention, Basic First Aid, Workplace Harassment, and many more.

“McNeil & Company training has meant a lot to our department,” said Michael Lykens, fire chief at Blountsville/Stoney Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department in Indiana. “We had a near rollover of our largest pumper truck, but the driver remembered the proper corrective action from our Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) and prevented further damage to the truck and its passengers.”
