Injured Woman Rescued from Fire on Boat in Baltimore Harbor

A seriously injured elderly woman was rescued from one of two boats that caught fire in Baltimore harbor Saturday afternoon, reports The Baltimore Sun (http://bsun.md/1jrtmmT).

The boats were at the end of a dock near Aliceanna and President streets in Harbor East, said Fire Department spokesman Roman Clark. The fire started about 1 p.m., and firefighters had to cut through the hull of a vessel to get to the woman, who was trapped, he said.

The woman, believed to be about 68 years old, is expected to survive, he said. Smoke from the fire was visible for miles.

Clark said the two powerboats sustained about $100,000 damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation
