‘Chicago Fire’ Star Rescued from Elevator by Firefighters

Actor Jesse Spencer, star of the hit NBC series “Chicago Fire,” got trapped in an elevator with several other people on Sunday and had to be rescued by real-life Springfield (IL) firefighters.

Spencer was sightseeing with his parents when they and some other tourists became trapped in the Capitol building’s elevator, according to the Chicago Tribune (http://bit.ly/PmIqoQ). There were reportedly up to 30 people in the elevator.

The actor eventually pried the doors of the elevator open so they could get air in. Finally, after more than a half hour in the crowded conditions, a woman was able to call the Springfield Fire Department. Crews arrived in about 10 minutes.
