Auto Wrecking Junkyard Fire Challenges Firefighters

BLAINE, Minn. – More than 50 firefighters fought a fire in a junkyard at Larson Auto Wrecking on May 15. About 2,000 cars and 20,000 tires were in the yard, according to WCCO 4 News. The cause of the fire was not determined.

Because the city’s hydrant system doesn’t extend to the fire site, crews created pools of water with pumps. A Department of Natural Resources firefighting plane was also used.
