Features/Equipment:

  • FREIGHTLINER m2 chassis with 195-inch wheelbase and cab seating for three with the third seat between two EMS compartments;
  • CUMMINS ISB 360-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 300 EVS automatic transmission;
  • WATEROUS CXVPA-4 pto-driven, 1,250-gpm single-stage pump with two 1¾-inch crosslays, a 2½-inch rear discharge, and an ELKHART Stinger deck gun;
  • UPF 750-gallon water tank;

  • four wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;
  • HURST rescue tools;
  • DEFIBTECH AED; and
  • lighting with two AKRON midship floodlights.

The Northwest Consolidated Fire District (DeSoto, Kansas) designed this SMEAL pumper as a rescue-engine. Captain Todd Maxton says the department protects more than 70 square miles of a predominately rural area and consists of a suburban city of 6,000 people. The city has adequate water, but the rural area does not, hence the water tank being larger for a strong initial attack, pending support by tankers. The department designed the body for a larger water tank, but used its size to allow deeper storage compartments.

Features/Equipment:

  • SPARTAN Metro Star MFD chassis with 190-inch wheelbase and 10-inch raised roof cab with five seats and a medical cabinet with inside/outside access;
  • CUMMINS ISL 9 400-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS-P automatic transmission;
  • UPF 1,000-gallon water tank 30-gallon foam tanks;
  • SMEAL ladder rack;
  • WATEROUS CS single-stage, 1,250-gpm pump with FOAM PRO 1600 system, 1¾-inch front bumper line pre-plumbed for foam, three crosslays (two 1¾-inch and one 2½-inch), one rear 2½-inch discharge (for use of either a supply line or a TFT Blitzfire hand monitor), and an AKRON Hi Riser deck gun;
  • ROM roll-up compartment doors and eight wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;
  • AUDIOVOX Voyager backup camera;
  • AMKUS tools;
  • equipment for water, ice, and rope rescue;
  • PHILLIPS Heart Start AED; and
  • light and power with a HARRISON eight-kw hydraulic generator, seven WHELEN scene lights (one brow and six on body), two FRC telescoping floodlights, and one HANNAY electric cord reel.

The Pouce Coupe (British Columbia, Canada) Fire Department has in service this wildland urban interface pumper built by FORT GARRY FIRE TRUCKS. Chief Scott LaFresne says the vehicle is designed for rural firefighting but with the capability to combat structural fires. It has a front bumper turret to fight grass fires while the crew is safe inside the cab.

  • FREIGHTLINER m2-106 chassis with 200-inch wheelbase and five-seat cab;
  • CUMMINS ISC 330-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • DARLEY PSRH high-pressure, rear-mounted, single-stage, 1,050-Imperial gpm pump with one-inch AKRON hose reel and TFT Tornado front bumper turret;
