Brooklyn (NY) – A motorcyclist was struck and killed by a fire truck in Brooklyn while driving to a memorial for another biker friend who died in a crash a year ago.

Forty-six-year-old Reginald Brown of Brooklyn was heading west on Monroe Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant when he collided with an FDNY fire truck at Marcy Avenue at around 4 p.m. He was just one block away from his home.

Eyewitness Danae Grandison said Brown’s body “flew off the motorycle,” and he landed in front of a beauty salon. He was wearing a helmet.

Ladder Company 111 was responding to a fire at 315 Nostrand Avenue, which was caused by a 17-year-old boy who set off illegal fireworks, officials said. The truck had its lights and sirens on.

Officials said that Brown was taken to Woodhull Hospita, but died shortly thereafter.

Tiesha Safford said Brown, her cousin was a careful motorcyclist, and was confused as to how he could have gotten struck.
