READ PART 1

• Thursday, September 11.

• The 9/11 E-Men Heroes one-hour special airs at 8 p.m. ET/PT on DISCOVERY channel. It is the story of the heroism and sacrifice of the New York Police Department’s Emergency Service Unit (ESU) and the E-Men heroes who were dedicated to rescuing as many people as possible. Narrated by Al-Jazeera America’s Tony Harris. Seventeen of the 31 E-Men who rushed into the World Trade Center on 9/11 survived. Testimony Films (Andy Attenburrow, David Long, and Steve Humphries were the producers) for Discovery Channel. John Cavanagh was executive producer or Discovery Channel. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2014/08/21/special-911-e-men-heroes-to-premiere-thursday-september-11-on-discovery-channel/295463/

Rebuilding the World Trade Center debuts on HISTORY, at 6 p.m. ET/PT. The two-hour special outlines the phases of the construction of the new 104-story One WTC. According to a press release by Sara Bibel, Rebuilding the World Trade Center not only captures the lyrical beauty of the city’s new architectural gems but also shares poignant personal stories from the unsung heroes of the project–the iron workers, crane operators, carpenters and surveyors, many of whom are second-generation construction workers whose parents and grandparents helped put up the original WTC. For them, this was more than just another construction site, more than just another complex of buildings, more than just another job. They were on “sacred ground,” and this was an opportunity to give the city and the entire country closure.” The documentary was filmed, produced, and directed by Marcus Robinson. It is produced by Lion Television LLC, an All3 Media Group Company, for HISTORY. Executive producers for HISTORY are Susan Werbe, Molly Thompson, and Dirk Hoogstra. Executive producer is Nick Catliff. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2014/08/21/history-to-premiere-special-rebuilding-the-world-trade-center-on-thursday-september-11/295555/ ; http://realscreen.com/2014/08/22/history-sets-911-premiere-for-world-trade-center-doc/#ixzz3BPNE59UI

AT THE WTC, SEPTEMBER 11

8:46 a..m. – about 12:30 p.m. The National 9/11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center Foundation is organizing this year’s WTC anniversary ceremonies, which Museum officials say will be similar to those of recent years: Family members will recite the names of the deceased, and moments of silence will signify the times of the attacks and other significant events that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001. The memorial plaza will be closed to the public for most of the day. It will be opened to the public from 6 p.m. to midnight on September 11. Only family members and elected officials invited in previous years have been invited.

• “Tribute in Light” will be held for the first time since the 2001 terrorist attacks at the Memorial Plaza in lower Manhattan. Visitors will be able to get a close-up view of the re-creation of the two 110-story WTC towers destroyed on 9/11 created by using 88 powerful light bulbs that form twin shafts of light beamed above the city skyline. It will return for one night. The lights are at West and Morris streets in lower Manhattan.

• 9/11 Walking Tours. The 9/11 Tribute Center, a project of the September 11th Families Association, will hold walking tours of the tribute center. Guides will be survivors, rescue and recovery workers, and family members of those who died during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Tours meet at the 9/11 Tribute Center, 120 Liberty Street, and last approximately one hour and 15 minutes. Tour tickets are available at www.tributewtc.org and will be available at the 9/11 Tribute Center the day of the tour.
