Former Lynn (MA) Fire Chief James Carritte was named director of the Fire Science and Emergency Management Programs at Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA.

Dr. Carritte, a Lynn, Massachusetts resident, spent nearly 30 years serving the Lynn Fire Department as a firefighter, deputy chief and acting chief. He received his bachelor’s degree from Salem State University (previously Salem State College), and his master’s and doctorate degrees from Boston College.

Anna Maria’s School of Fire and Health Sciences prepares students for variety of careers in science, health, technology, and emergency services. The fire science program is taught by experienced leaders and educators in emergency services. The goal of the program is to produce well-rounded emergency services professionals who have the necessary foundational knowledge, training, and certifications to have a competitive edge in obtaining professional emergency service employment. Anna Maria offers several options for students seeking careers, professional growth, and advancement in fire services and the emergency management field.
