The Farmington (PA) Fire Department designed this ROSENBAUER pumper to be first out primarily for vehicle rescue and as a fire attack unit, says Chief Brian VanSickle. The department covers primarily rural farming land with dirt roads. The four-wheel-drive helps with these roads and when responding in inclement weather. The department chose a commercial chassis to save money on that feature.

- CUMMINS ISL 350-hp diesel engine with an ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
- DARLEY PSP single-stage, 1,250-gpm pump with 1½-inch front bumper line, one-inch CMW booster reel (under the passenger side door), one each 1¾-inch and 2½-inchlines in crosslays, and one 1¾-inch rear preconnect;
- UPF 500-gallon water tank;
- ROM roll-up compartment doors and wheel well storage for spare SCBA cylinders and oil absorbent hopper;
- WARN 4½-ton portable winch with four receivers;
- one each CMW reel for electric cord and low pressure air;
- HURST rescue tools;
- box on top of body for Stokes basket, backboards, and rope rescue equipment;
- enclosed ladder, suction hose, and pike pole storage; and
- light and power with a SMART POWER 15-kw hydraulic generator, WILL BURT light tower, and WHELEN scene and brow lights.
The Village of Kelleys Island (OH) Fire Department uses this DANKO pumper/tanker and another engine to protect an area of which one-quarter has no hydrants, says Chief Jack Hostel. The island is situated in Lake Erie.
