NVFC Makes Changes to Membership Dues

The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) has made changes to its membership dues, which will be effective as of January 1. These include a slight increase in the All Staff Department, All State, and Junior memberships, new discounts available for early renewals, and a two-year renewal option. If you are an All Staff Department or Junior Member and your membership is getting ready to expire, renew by December 31 to take advantage of the 2010 rates.

“We are pleased to be able to offer low dues rates for our members, and the introduction of the All Staff Department and All State Memberships allows first responders to join at 60 percent off the regular Personal Member rate,” said NVFC Executive Director Heather Schafer. “While these rates are increasing slightly, they are still a great bargain. In addition, we are introducing two new discount options for our regular Personal and Department Membership rates to help make these even more affordable.”

As of January 1, the following membership changes will be in effect:
  • All Staff Department Membership dues will increase from $10 to $12 per person. The Department Member fee will continue to be waived. As before, all members of a department must join in order to take advantage of the All Staff Department Membership.
  • The rate for All State Membership will increase from $10 to $12. To take advantage of this rate, you must join the NVFC through your participating state fire association. To find out if your state is participating in this campaign, contact your state association or email Donna Clark at dclark@nvfc.org.
  • The rate for Junior Membership will increase from $10 to $12.
  • The NVFC will begin offering a 10 percent discount on the Personal Member rate (normally $30) and the Department Member rate (normally $50) for those who renew their membership at least 30 days prior to their membership expiration date.
  • The NVFC will introduce a new two-year membership option with a 10 percent discount off of the regular Personal and Department Member rates.
NVFC membership comes with a myriad of benefits, including a $10,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment policy for Personal, All Staff Department, and All State Members; volunteer hour incentive rewards for Junior Members (17 and under); a 10 percent discount and waived application fee to Columbia Southern University; discounts on shopping, entertainment, and travel; and more.

With the holiday season right around the corner, now is the time to give the gift of NVFC membership to the first responders in your life. Take advantage of the 2010 All Staff Department and Junior Membership rates and give all of the members of your department or junior firefighter program an NVFC membership for just $10 a person. Or get an individual a Personal Membership for just $30.
