Waterway, the oldest and largest hose testing company in the United States, has a new name. Started in 1989 by Firefighter Ed Okinsky, Waterway formed a nationwide franchised operation in 2008. The company has grown to service thousands of customers across the country. On April 1, 2014, the fourteen franchisees purchased the former Waterway Franchise. The new company is called Waterway Co-operative LLC. Each Waterway Co-Op is 100% individually owned and operated, delivering professional, local service. Over the past 6 years, Waterway has become the Number 1 fire hose and ground ladder testing company in the US. They operate in numerous locations including New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina plus Michigan, Illinois, Texas and New Mexico. Last year they tested over 13 million feet of hose!
Waterway is the only ISO-9001 Quality Management certified company in the U.S. operating in its field, ensuring the highest standards of performance. They also pioneered on-line test records, saving fire departments the trouble of storing paper files.
In an effort to help fire departments painlessly comply with expanding NFPA standards, Waterway has added new testing services such as hard suction, nozzle, appliance, system and pump testing. While not all locations offer all these services, many co-ops do providing fire departments with a one-stop-shop for multiple NFPA testing requirements.
