>> The Bahama (NC) Fire Rescue uses its two ALEXIS pumper/tankers to protect a very rural area of nearly 40 square miles, two percent of which is covered by hydrants. Chief Len Needham says these tankers are an upgrade because they carry twice the amount of water of the older units.

>> The Port Moody (BC) Fire Rescue Department uses this SVI TRUCKS vehicle as an equipment truck that usually responds to second alarms, says Deputy Chief Gord Parker. The truck supports technical rescues (confined space, high and low angle), fireground operations (RIC, lighting, air supply, ventilation, high rise, marina, salvage, and overhaul), and medical response. The truck also takes a significant amount of pressure off of the primary response engines.

  • Stokes basket and backboard module;
  • two rear fold-down access ladders;
  • BAUER BP 13 breathing air compressor, two position fill station, and two air storage cylinders;
  • WARN 4½-ton portable winch with four receivers;
  • three HANNAY reels (one each high-pressure air, low-pressure air, and electric cord);
  • MEDTRONICS AED; and
  • light and power with an ONAN 32-kw pto generator, COMMAND LIGHT Knight tower, three FRC floodlights (one brow, two on sides of body), and eight WHELEN fixed scene lights (two on cab and six on body).
