Five People Displaced by Northbrook (IL) Fire

A fire caused about $1 million in damage at a condominium building in Northbrook (IL), reports The Chicago Tribune.

There were no injuries, but five residents were displaced.

The three-flat condominium went up in flames Monday evening, displacing five people and causing about $1 million in damage, according to Northbrook officials.

About 16 fire trucks and 60 firefighters from Northbrook and surrounding communities arrived to put out the fire, which spread to the mansard roof and engulfed the third floor. But the firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about two hours.

No one was injured, and the fire’s cause is still under investigation, according to officials.

Firefighters monitored the condominium throughout the night to make sure all hot spots were extinguished.

As workers were still pumping water out of the house Tuesday morning, nobody was allowed to go inside.
