>> The NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (NFPA) Board of Directors named Jim Pauley as its next president. Pauley is currently senior vice president of External Affairs and Government Relations for Schneider Electric. He will assume his new role with NFPA in July. Pauley has served in a number of codes and standards-related activities including chairman of the board for the American National Standards Institute, chairman of NFPA’s Standards Council, and chair of the High Performance Building Council for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association. Pauley will succeed James M. Shannon, who has served as NFPA president since 2002. www.nfpa.org.

>> NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION released two new music videos focusing on the importance of smoke alarms. They are currently available on its Sparky School House Web site. The videos, “Little Rosalie” and “What’s That Sound?” teach young children the importance of fire safety and help children remember what they should do in the event of a fire. >> MULLIGAN SECURITY CORP. was accredited by the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) to provide the prerequisite training course for certification as a fire safety director. Fire safety directors are building employees certified by the FDNY to implement the building’s fire safety plan in the event of a fire emergency. After receiving the Certificate of Fitness, the fire safety director is qualified to implement the building’s fire safety and evacuation plan. >> IMAGETREND, INC. announced it will launch a statewide fire incident reporting system for the State of Mississippi with its Fire Bridge software. The software will be used to collect data on incidents submitted by its fire departments, which can then be analyzed to aid in improving fire safety and reducing fire suppression costs. The state will have the ability to manage its own data and reporting and will be able to report to the National Fire Incident Reporting System.
