Three firefigthers were treated at a hospital after suffering injuries in a Kansas City (MO) house fire on Saturday. They were released later in the day.
According to a report in the Kansas City Star, one firefighter’s SCBA mask was knocked off during an incident at a two-story home, and the firefighter inhaled smoke and superheated air. Two others suffered smoke inhalation.
The three were part of a search team that became momentarily trapped on the house’s second floor by a blast of fire. A rapid intervention team (RIT) then entered with another hoseline to rescue the trapped firefighters. All the occupants of the home made it out safely before firefighters arrived.
