Pierce Manufacturing, an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) company, and a North American manufacturer of fire and emergency vehicles, is showcasing 14 fire and emergency apparatus at Lucas Oil Stadium – booth 8930 – during the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, Ind. Headlined by apparatus built on the all-new Pierce Saber and Enforcer custom chassis, this is Pierce’s largest-ever vehicle display at FDIC.
“The fire industry comes to the FDIC expo to get a hands-on look at innovative equipment and new technologies, which is exactly what they will experience at the Pierce booth,” said Jim Johnson, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president of the Fire & Emergency segment and Pierce Manufacturing. “With two unique Saber pumper configurations, a new Enforcer pumper – and a total of 14 apparatus inside Lucas Oil Stadium – we are demonstrating our enthusiasm for the industry and Pierce’s place in its future.”
Spotlighted in the Pierce booth is a pair of Pierce Saber custom pumpers. The all-new Saber establishes a higher level of performance and value in the industry standard custom chassis market. Built with significantly more cab room, increased visibility and enhanced ergonomics, the Saber retains the simple, straightforward, and durable features for which it’s long been known.
A new Pierce Enforcer pumper is also showcased in the booth. Built on a medium-duty chassis with 10.25-inch deep frame rails, the Enforcer platform (available with the Pierce exclusive DD13 big block engine, and TAK-4 independent front suspension) supports a wide range of apparatus configurations like never before on this industry standard chassis.
Aerial ladders in the Pierce booth include a 105-foot heavy-duty steel ladder built on a Velocity chassis (courtesy of the City of Albany, Oregon Fire Department) and a 75-foot heavy-duty aluminum ladder manufactured on the Dash CF chassis (courtesy of the City of Victoria, Texas Fire Department). Also on display is a Pierce 95-foot mid-mount platform on a Velocity chassis (courtesy of the Colony, Texas Fire Department) and a tanker/pumper vehicle on an Arrow XT chassis with the Pierce-exclusive Snozzle high reach extendable turret (courtesy of the Elizabeth, New Jersey Fire Department).
Other vehicles spotlighted in the Pierce booth include a heavy-duty, walk-in rescue vehicle built on the Arrow XT chassis (courtesy of the Port Washington, Wisconsin Fire Department), a Pierce Ultimate Configuration (PUC) pumper (courtesy of the Cinnaminson, New Jersey Fire Department). Two long-body pumpers manufactured on Arrow XT chassis (courtesy of the DeKalb County Fire and Rescue Department, and BP’s North Rumaila facilities in Iraq), and a third is built on a Quantum chassis (courtesy of the Wurtsboro, New York Fire Department). Rounding out the display in Lucas Oil Stadium are a commercial pumper engineered for international markets and the all-new Oshkosh Storm aircraft rescue and fire-fighting (ARFF) vehicle.
Seven additional Pierce apparatus are on hand at FDIC, including four Pierce aerials located outdoors in conjunction with various hands-on training (H.O.T.) programs. A Pierce commercial tanker is on display at the Freightliner booth and a mini-pumper is in the Ford booth.
