Hazelton of “Good Morning America” joins home fire sprinkler coalition
On October 10, Ron Hazelton, home improvement editor at “Good Morning America” (ABC), anchored a segment on that show focusing on home fire sprinkler use in Scottsdale, Arizona, where the law requires that sprinklers be installed in newly built homes. Hazelton recently became a member of the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition.
Among the segment`s components were a comparative burn; the story of the Mizioch family, who had been saved from tragedy by an automatic fire sprinkler system when their home caught fire; and information about sprinklers including myths associated with them and their cost.
The Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, established in 1996, is comprised of the American Fire Sprinkler Association, the National Fire Protection Association, and the National Fire Sprinkler Association and focuses primarily on the installing of sprinklers in newly constructed one- and two-family dwellings.
