Academy Board Named

The eight members of the board of visitors that will monitor the work of the National Fire Academy have been appointed. W. Howard McClennan, president of the International Association of Fire Fighters, was appointed chairman and four-year member of the board by Secretary of Commerce Juanita M. Kreps.

Kreps also named to four-year terms on the board Louis J. Amabili, director of the Delaware State Fire School and president of the International Society of Fire Service Instructors; Assistant Chief Alan V. Brunicini of Phoenix, Ariz.; and William J. Christian, consulting engineer, Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., Chicago.

Appointed for two years were Jasper S. Hawkins, Jr., of Hawkins & Lindsey Architects, Los Angeles; P. S. Quigg, structural and fire testing research manager, United States Gypsum Company, Des Plaines, Ill.; Chief James H. Shern of Pasadena, first vice president of the International Association of Fire Chiefs; and G. King Walters, department of physics, Stanford University, Stanford, Calif.

Two workers were killed and another seriously injured in an explosion Tuesday at a Delta Air Lines maintenance facility near the Atlanta airport.
