The Willington (CT) Fire Department designed this W.S. DARLEY rescue pumper with a rear pump to increase storage space and reduce operating width resulting from hoselines, Captain Stuart Cobb explains. The new unit replaced a mini pumper and provides the additional capacity for a larger inventory needed to perform additional duties.

The Hickory Point (IL) Fire Protection District designed its EVI rescue truck with a nonwalk-in body to carry inventory for EMS, extrication, vertical rescue, haz mat, and homeland security, explains Chief Dennis Downey.

The Eggertsville (NY) Fire Department uses this HORTON rescue truck as a primary EMS unit, a secondary extrication vehicle, and a rehab unit, according to Assistant Chief John Buttino.

The Alexandria (VA) Fire Department designed this METALCRAFT MARINE boat with aft steering. According to Captain Rodney Messer, it enables a reduced crew of two to work from the aft deck with improved visibility during dive and recovery operations. The craft is used as a fire rescue unit on the Potomac River.

The Alpine Township Fire Department in Comstock, Michigan, designed its CRIMSON rescue truck with an nonwalk-in body for added storage, according to Captain Eric Rasch. The unit responds to structure fires, haz mats, and personal injury accidents.

The Bandys Crossroads (NC) Fire Department designed this WOLVERINE pumper with a large tank because it is stationed in an area with few hydrants, explains Chief Brady Little. The department plans to use the vehicle as a pumper and a tanker.

The Northampton Township (PA) Volunteer Fire Department designed these two AMERICAN LAFRANCE apparatus for multipurpose duty with limited staffing, says Battalion Chief Adam M. Selisker. The rescue pumper is a combo truck for firefighting and rescue response from a substation. The special service unit supplies breathing air, lighting, and additional personnel and responds to structure fires, haz mats, mutual aid, and fire/police investigations.

The Gibraltar (MI) Fire Department designed its KME Fire Stix pumper with a topmount pump panel to keep the operator off the street. According to Chief Arthur Beauman, the department uses this unit for second- and third-story building fires and tree rescues. The unit also provides roof access and master streams.

The Park Ridge (NJ) Fire Department designed this PIERCE pumper to hold the equipment needed to handle the majority of the types of calls it receives, according to Chief Bill Dietrich.

• Lance chassis with 236.5-inch wheelbase and seven-seat cab with 22-inch raised roof and interior medical cabinet with PHILLIPS AED;

DETROIT Series 60 500-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 4000 EVS automatic transmission and TAK-4 independent suspension;

WATEROUS CMU two-stage, 2,000-gpm pump with top mount panel, two 134-inch speedlays, two 134-inch rear preconnects, right side tray with one-inch forestry hose, AKRON Apollo monitor, and PIERCE Husky 10 Class A foam system;

UPF 720-gallon water and 30-gallon foam tanks;

GORTITE roll-up compartment doors;

• prepiped breathing air to pump panel and four sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;

The Coralville (IA) Fire Department designed its MARION pumper with a rear-mounted pump to increase compartment space on the apparatus, says Chief Dave Stannard.

The Cincinnati (OH) Fire Department designed its EMERGENCY ONE pumper for general firefighting in a large, urban city, according to Captain Thomas Thomas.
