Maryland Boy Rescued After Fingers Caught in Escalator

Prince George (MD) first responders spent more than two hours trying to free a child’s fingers from an escalator at Iverson Mall, reports WUSA 9 (http://on.wusa9.com/1hSDMu7)

Mark Brady with Prince George’s County fire described the rescue as a “challenging and tedious extrication.”

Brady says the 6-year-old boy caught his hand/fingers in the bottom of an escalator at Burlington Coat Factory at approximately 8:40 p.m. Thursday shortly before closing time.

Crews had to take apart a portion of the escalator to free the boy’s hand. He was freed at approximately 11 p.m. Paramedics administered pain medication. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
