Public education campaign stresses “safer cooking”

Public education campaign stresses “safer cooking”

Unattended cooking has been found to be the cause of more than 75 percent of residential cooking fires, according to a study sponsored by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) in partnership with the National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM). The study, conducted in 10 cities, also revealed that adults between the ages of 19 and 49 were involved in 70 percent of the fires studied. In response to the study`s findings, AHAM has developed its “Recipe for Safer Cooking” public education campaign aimed at reducing the number of cooking-related fires.
