Firefighters Exposed to Acid at New York Fire

About 30 firefighters had to be decontaminated after they were exposed to acid while responding to a two-alarm fire yesterday in the municipality of Green Island near Albany, New York.

NEWS10 reported that the fire occurred around 4:30 p.m. inside the Crystal IS manufacturing plant after workers reportedly spilled a chemical. The workers were apparently able to close off the area where the chemical was spilled and escape to safety.

The report said around 30 firefighters had a light exposure to hydrochloric acid while responding to the fire. The Albany County Hazmat team also responded to the scene.
