IFSI Instructor Chosen as Fire Service Instructor of the Year

The Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) announced that one of its instructors has been selected as the 2015 Fire Service Instructor of the Year by the Illinois Society of Fire Service Instructors. Chief James P. Moore (Ret.) was chosen by the Society based on his “engaging instruction style that brings out the best of all students.”

Chief Moore instructs a number of classes for IFSI, as well as for the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association. Those classes include those in the discipline of Leadership Development, Fire Officer, Fire Ground Command, and Rescue and Emergency Management Programs. IFSI recently named Chief Moore to serve as the Program Director for its Leadership Development and Decision Making Program.

“It is gratifying to see one of our instructors be recognized by his peers. It is the ultimate compliment,” Royal Mortenson, Director of IFSI said. “Chief Moore was among 11 IFSI instructors recognized as Instructor of the Month last year for his participation in developing the Leadership Development and Decision Making Program.”

The Society presented the award at the Annual Combined Conference of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association and the Illinois Society of Fire Service Instructors in Peoria, Illinois, on October 13, 2015.
