Tragic Week for Emergency Services Organizations

Since Monday, April 30th, emergency services personnel have endured four tragic deaths:

On May 3, EMT Catarina DiGiacomo, of Media, PA, died of injuries sustained when her car was struck by a firefighter responding to a call. DiGiacomo was exiting a gas station when her vehicle and the vehicle driven by a volunteer firefighter collided. DiGiacomo was not on duty at the time.

On May 4, two St. Louis firefighters-Rob Morrison, 38 and Derek Martin, 38-died of injuries sustained when they entered a burning structure to rescue one of their own-a firefighter who ultimately did find his way out of the fire. The two firefighters died at a hospital after they were rescued.

On May 5, fourteen year old Brookhaven, PA junior firefighter Chris Kangas died of injuries sustained when he was hit by a car while reportedly responding to his firehouse on his bicycle.
