Anti-Fog Treatment

Firechem Anti-Fog, a treatment for protecting all types of goggles, and face shields from fogging, has been introduced by the Firecraft Division of Western Fire Equipment Company.

Anti-Fog consists of individual sheets, and the manufacturer states that one treatment will provide long-lasting fogging protection.

Valves

Hale Fire Pump Company announces the Gate-Lok inline valves that eliminates the need for conventional twist-type handles. Once the Gate-Lok handle is positioned, it stays in place. A built-in brake disengages only when the handle is moved. Release the handle, and the ball locks in place and is not moved hy water flowing through it.

Made of Hale-Lite aluminum alloy, Gate-Lok valves are light weight. The hard-coated valve ball has Teflon inclusions for permanent lubricity. Gate-Lok inline valves are available in 1 1/2, 2 1/2 and 3-inch sizes.

CPR Headrest

Fairfield Medical Products Corporation announces a CPR headrest, that stabilizes the technician while performing CPR in an ambulance.

The upholstered pad snaps onto the Fairfield rail, allowing the EMT to position his head and get the necessary support during CPR. The headrest comes with an 8-inch piece of rail, which can be mounted vertically or horizontally.

Protective Gloves

The Apex Glove Company, Inc., has introduced a fire fighting glove made of tanned, heat resistant leather that has been tested at temperatures up to 1000°F.

Tempo fire fighters gloves have a closed wool lining and reinforcements at stress areas. A 2-inch elastic cuff at the wrist adds protection.

Hood

Ziamatic Corporation has produced a lightweight, all-weather head hood that is made of Nomex and can be carried in a coat pocket.

Quic-Hood is designed to protect the skin against heat and can be worn with self-contained breathing apparatus masks and helmets.

The flame-resistant Nomex hood can be washed or dry cleaned and one size fits any head.

Pump Mock-Up

Fire Research Corporation announces their pump mock-up for teaching basic fire pump operational theory. The instructor builds the complete fire pump schematic piece by piece in front of the class. Every piece is in color. The instructor places each piece of the pump on the velcro board and explains what it is, the purpose and how it functions. The system can be changed from single stage to a two-stage. It can be purchased complete (velcro board and all pump pieces) or only the pump pieces with velcro backing.

Self-Contained Tankers

Prime Manufacturing Corp., has introduced a line of slip-on tank and pump units that can be trailer mounted or installed on trucks.

Basic features include either a fiberglass tank with removable top and translucent corners or a steel tank. Both units meet U.S. Forest Service specifications. Either a centrifugal or positive displacement, pump can he used.

Tank capacities range from 75 to 1000 gallons. A number of options and custom engineering are available.

Breathing Apparatus

Scott Aviation introduces a self-contained breathing apparatus, the Air-Pak 2.2, that is available as a demand or pressure-demand unit. The Air-Pak 2.2 is a 30-minute, NIOSH/MSHA certified breathing apparatus with a cylinder pressure of 2216 psi. It features a mask-mounted regulator, a Scott-O-Vista facepiece and a high flow capability. The lumbar-support apparatus harness places the weight of the unit on the hips.

Rescue Unit

Bio-Med International, Inc., offers the Bio-Pac Rescue Unit, model RU-100, designed for emergency evacuation and transport of an injured person.

Each unit comes with a disposable trauma unit consisting of a bio-sheet, a foam pad and four sterile towels, which can be used as bandages or as a compress to reduce blood flow. The bio-sheet consists of five layers of non-woven fabric and a covering layer of wind and moisture resistant polyethylene.

The four facility portals of the RU-100 provide access to the vict im for administering intravenous solutions, taking pulse rates, blood pressure, etc. Optional equipment includes breakaway aluminum poles and a burn unit with a sterile non-adherent burn sheet, towels, scissors and gloves. The RU100 weighs 10 pounds.

Controlled Monitor/Nozzle

The Hydra-Monitor, a hydraulicslly operated, remotely controllable monitor/nozzle is now available as an option on all Snorkels, from Snorkel, Div. of A-T-O Inc.

The monitor/nozzle makes it possible for one man to control both the platform and the nozzle movements. While guiding platform movements with right hand, the operator can control the vertical elevation, horizontal sweep and stream pattern of the monitor with a flick of the fingers with his left hand.

A set of controls attached to a cord that plugs into the turntable can be used to control the arc and sweep of the monitor, as well as the stream pattern of the nozzle from the rear control station or anywhere within 25 feet of the turntable.

Hydrant Valve

Fire Research Corporation has announced a radio-controlled hydrant valve that comes with a 3 1/2-inch valve. Other size valves are available. The valve is adaptable to any coupling system.

The radio-controlled hydrant valve has manual override, and plugs into a 12-volt charging system. A flashing light indicates a full charge. The control transmitter has two pushbutton switches, one for open and one for close. The radio does not require a license.

Tank Level Indicator

Encore Electronics has developed a booster tank water level indicator. Model 1020 has intergrated circuitry and features an audio low-water alarm, an anti-sloshing circuit to prevent false indication, and provision for self-test.

The unit is housed in a drip-proof case and operates from 12VDC with either positive or negative ground.

Electric Lamp

Kollmorgen Lighting Products has introduced an electric lamp that is intended for lighting during overhaul and salvage.

The Uni-Lite is splashproof, dustproof and corrosion-resistant. Its construct ion is shock resistant. The unit weighs less than 7 pounds with cord, and is 15 1/2. inches high and 10 inches in diameter.
