Walt Rainer has joined the Suspended Maneuvering Systems Team at McDonnell Douglas Astronautics Company of St. Louis. In his new position, Rainer will concentrate on the marketing aspects of the SMS Program. Prior to joining the company, Rainer had been vice president of marketing for American LaFrance for the past 15 years.

Rockwood Systems Corp., has announced the promotion of Les Reed as area representative for Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware. Reed will be representing the complete Rockwood firefighting and ball valve lines.

Donald J. Ripley has been named Fire Training manager for the Ansul Company. His responsibilities will focus on consultations with Ansul customers throughout the world to develop programs directed toward particular fire training needs. He will continue to manage the Ansul Fire School and the Fire Training Simulator. Ripley was previously Fire School supervisor.

R.J. DeCrane has been appointed director-marketing services with BFGoodrich Engineered Systems Division. In his new assignment, DeCrane is responsible for directing the Engineered Systems Division’s marketing operations, public relations, training, customer service, market development, government relations and advertising functions.

Honeywell Protection Services Division has announced the acquisition of the Southern Burglar Alarm Company of Norfolk, Va. Hugh McLernon, formerly general manager of the alarm company, has been named branch manager.

Robert Savery has been appointed as sales manager-commercial fire detection for the Protection Systems Division of Fenwal Inc. In his new position, Savery is responsible for sales and application engineering of Fenwal’s line of commercial/industrial smoke and fire detectors for fire alarm and suppression systems.

Robert E. McFadden has rejoined the Horton Company as Product Engineer, and will be responsible for research and development, including new concepts in emergency medical vehicles. In addition, he will be involved in new product development, methods and standards of production, and chassis control. McFadden will be working with chassis manufacturers such as Ford, Chevy and Chrysler in creating new emergency vehicle chassis.

Dictaphone Corporation has announced a major realignment of its Dictaphone Products and Systems Group marketing management organization. Rudolph Grua has been appointed vice-president, marketing, Curtis D. Aiken has been appointed vicepresident, sales; Louis J. Dubuque has been assigned to the position of vice-president, marketing, major accounts, and Elliott L. Smith has been named vice-president, market development.

Emergency One, Inc., has announced the appointment of Ronald E. Ewers to the position of president. Ewers has been with the company since 1976.

Dennis P. Flynn has been appointed vice president-finance for the American District Telegraph Company.

The Springfield Equipment, a division of The Champion Company, has announced the appointment of two regional sales managers. R. Mark Anderson will be responsible for the southern sales area, covering 17 states and Tras B. Kadel will service the northern sales area of 13 states. Each will service the distributor programs for the Springfield Paramedic and Rescue Ambulances and coordinate regional conventions.

Robert Rossiter has been appointed as national sales manager for the Superior Division of Sheller-Globe Corporation. In his new position, Rossiter will be responsible for the sales of the company’s ambulance line.

T. Joseph Hennessy has been appointed as manager, Philadelphia region for RCA Mobile Communications Systems. Hennessy will be responsible for the sales of two-way radio equipment in the Pennsylvania. Delaware, West Virginia, southern New Jersey and western New York areas, including Binghamton and Syracuse, N.Y.
