APPARATUS DELIVERIES

>> The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire District, Algonquin, Illinois, has in service two FERRARA fire apparatus. The pumper is enclosed for protection from winter water, salt, and chemicals, says Assistant Chief Tim Littlefield. The department wanted a rescue pumper design for response to structure fires, extrications, and mutual aid. The platform replaced a 75-foot “straight stick” and operates as a truck company. Its longer reach allows access to most homes with setbacks and its basket provides a work area. The pump is used for quick knockdown when the unit arrives first on scene and for self sufficiency.

Features/Equipment:

• Inferno chassis with 203-inch wheelbase and eight-inch raised-roof cab with six seats;
• CUMMINS ISL 425-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
• Multi Vocational Pumper body design with HALE Qmax single-stage 1,500-gpm pump, HYPRO Foam Pro 2001 system, six-inch front intake, 1¾-inch front jumpline, three speedlays (two 1¾-inch under the cab notch area and one 2½-inch above), and ELKHART Stinger monitor with TFT Extenda-Gun;
• UPF 750-gallon water and 30-gallon foam tanks;
• ROM roll-up compartment doors and eight wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders and hand extinguishers;
• HOLMATRO rescue tools with four hydraulic reels (two each left and right side) and preconnect in front bumper;
• ZOLL AED; and
• light and power with SMART POWER 10-kw hydraulic generator, COMMAND LIGHT Knight Lite with Back Lite, 10 FRC floodlights (two brow, two side of cab, and six recessed on body), and two HANNAY electric cord reels.

• Inferno chassis with extended medium cab with 244-inch wheelbase and six-seat cab;
• CUMMINS ISM 500-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 4000 EVS automatic transmission;
• HALE Qmax single-stage, 1,500-gpm pump with six-inch front intake and three crosslays (two 1¾-inch and one 2½-inch);
• 100-foot platform with 1,000-pound dry and 500-pound wet payload capacities, 18-foot outrigger spread, and Stinger monitor;
• UPF 300-gallon water tank;
• ROM roll-up compartment doors and 12 wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders and hand extinguishers;
• two FEDERAL backing and side cameras with color LCD monitor;
• ZOLL AED; and
• light and power with SMART POWER 10-kw hydraulic generator, 12 FRC floodlights (two brow, two each side of body, one each side over cab and rear, and two each on and under platform), and two HANNAY electric cord reels.
