No-Burn, Icynene Initiate Collaborative Relationship for Coating Technology Used Over Polyurethane Foam

No-Burn, Incorporated and Icynene Inc. announce the first success of a collaboration designed to provide code-prescribed fire protection over polyurethane foam plastic insulation manufactured by Icynene. A new intumescent coating manufactured by No-Burn®, named No-Burn® Plus XD, was used over ICYNENE LD-C-50™ light-density, open celled, 100% water blown foam to provide the required ignition barrier rating for code compliance under applicable sections of the International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC). No-Burn® coating is applied at 14 wet mils over the foam according to the recently reissued ICC ES Report ESR-1826.

“We greatly appreciate the opportunity provided by Icynene to incorporate coating technology that we have developed specifically for use with polyurethane foam into their value offerings to their dealers,” stated Bill Kish, President of No-Burn, Incorporated of Wadsworth, Ohio. Mr. Kish continued, “This represents an additional step in evolutionary product development that we believe will dramatically change the productivity and economic advantages offered to spray-foam applicators.” Paul Duffy, Vice President of Engineering at Icynene Inc. added, “We have seen some very positive developments taking place through our collaborative efforts with No- Burn®. We anticipate the announcement of additional progress in the coatings arena, as well as other areas of our technology development activities, over the near-term.”

The No-Burn® Plus XD coating is applied through simple airless spray equipment. Application training and certification are being provided to Icynene dealers by No-Burn® to ensure appropriate levels of efficiency and quality assurance. The No-Burn® product can be purchased directly through Icynene customer service at 800-758-7325.
