Pager Holders

Heavy duty pager holders, with loop snaps for belt wear, are available from Ziamatic Corporation. Holders are offered in two styles, each with long wearing, black chrome leather upper construction.

For optimum protection, the enclosed style leaves the pager top exposed and includes a 1/4-inch drain hole in the bottom and a 3/8-inch opening in the side for ear plug access. Open style holders have a tight retainer pocket that hold pager’s clip in place. Both styles accommodate Motorola Minitor, Plectron, and Sonar brand pagers.

Communications

Safetran Systems Corporation has introduced a Total Control Exchange/Computer Aided Dispatching System (TCX/CAD) to speed response to emergencies.

The TCX/CAD accepts all incoming calls from ringdown, telephone, PBX tie line, intercom or special circuit. When a trouble address is entered, the CRT screen shows location, key buildings in the area and information such as hazardous materials, hydrant locations, etc. Incoming calls can be combined by the dispatcher to permit multi-party communication.

Engine

Cummins Engine Company, Inc. announces the availability of a new 320horsepower version of its L10 series engine designed for pumper and ladder fire trucks. The new 6-cylinder L10 is 9 inches shorter, 10 inches lower and approximately 600 pounds lighter than Cummins similarly rated NTC engines. According to the manufacturer, the L10 can run up to 245 pounds lighter than competitive engines in the same horsepower range. Features such as a onepiece cylinder head, short connecting rods and same-side positioning of the intake and exhaust ports contribute to the compactness of the 611 cubic-inch engine. Low heat rejection and efficient cooling systems enable the L10 to operate a pump for hours without overheating.

Fog Nozzle

Elkhart Brass introduces the new HydroFoam, a revolutionary combination fog nozzle. Designed for water or AFFF application, the Hydro-Foam nozzle has been developed and field tested by firefighting specialists. A separate foam educator is not needed with this nozzle. It attaches to a fixed monitor, portable monitor, or deck gun for an instant AFFF application system. Regular AFFF concentrates or polar solvent type AFFF can be used.

Because of the proportioning device within the nozzle, there is negligible pressure drop assuring maximum stream efficiency and reach. Corrosion resistant, the Hydro-Foam nozzle is constructed of rugged brass alloys. It is offered in satin brass or chrome plated finish with a 9-foot, clear vinyl suction hose. It comes in 350 gpm (HF-350) or 500 gpm (HF-500) sizes.
