The Asbury Community Fire Department in Dubuque, Iowa, designed its PIERCE pumper to respond to fire, rescue, and EMS calls, according to Assistant Chief Pat Esch. It can also be used for rehab.

  • CUMMINS ISL 350-hp diesel engine with ALLISON HD 3066 automatic transmission;
  • WATEROUS CSUY single-stage, 1,500-gpm pump with top-mount panel, HYPRO Foam Pro 2002 system, 13/4-inch front bumper line, two 13/4-inch speedlays, one 11/2-inch crosslay, one 21/2-inch rear preconnect, and ELKHART Stinger monitor;
  • UPF 750-gallon water and 20-gallon A and B foam tanks;
  • PIERCE hydraulic ladder rack;
  • LUKAS extrication tools with two hydraulic reels and high-angle/confined-space equipment;
  • ZODIAC inflatable rescue raft; and
  • light and power with A.M.P.S. eight-kw hydraulic generator, two HAVIS SHIELDS midship floodlights, and one HANNAY electric cord reel.

The Bellows Falls (VT) Fire Department wanted foam capability for its EMERGENCY ONE pumper as well as greater pump and water tank capacities than those of its predecessor, Chief William Weston says.

The Walnutport (PA) Fire Department has had a 75-foot quint since 1981 and considers it the most versatile type of apparatus, according to Chief John S. Kirchner. This AMERICAN LAFRANCE unit is its latest replacement.

The Perry (IA) Fire Department replaced an aerial and a pumper with this MARION BODY quint, according to Chief Jerry Anderson, and uses it as a second-out engine. The unit also responds to vehicle fires and provides lighting at fire scenes.

The Fort Vermilion Fire Department in Alberta, Canada, designed this SUPERIOR rescue truck for light rescue work, particularly extrication, Chief Brian Christianson says. The department specified a nonwalk-in body for more storage space and a commercial chassis to handle long-distance response and rough road conditions.

The Aumsville (OR) Rural Fire District has in service two KME pumper/tankers that replaced two older front-mount units. Chief Tom Drews says that the present units can transfer water in four directions from the apparatus. The jurisdiction is less than five-percent hydranted.

  • six CODE 3 fixed scene lights on body (two on left, two on right, two at rear).

The U.S. Air Force Base in Kunsan, South Korea, received these two UNITED PLASTICS MANUFACTURING (UPF) foam trailers. According to Will Warnock of UPF, the trailers are used for rapid resupply of foam concentrate to ARFF vehicles.

  • UPF Model FT/LDH-1000 trailer;
  • transfer pump rated at between 35 and 250 gpm and able to draft from drums sized from five to 55 gallons;
  • preconnected 13/4-inch transfer hoselines;

The Madison Park Fire Company in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey, uses this SUMMIT support truck to carry extra inventory to supply its grass rig and two pumpers, according to Commissioner Ed Marks. The company is continually adding equipment to vehicles as funding permits.
