JACK PELTIER   >> JACK PELTIER died on December 9, 2012. A 60-year fire service veteran, Peltier was retired as an assistant chief of the Marlborough (MA) Fire Department. He had been serving as the safety officer for the Berlin (MA) Fire Department and was still responding to incidents as recently as a couple of weeks prior to his passing. Peltier was a life member and past president of the International Society of Fire Service Instructors and had served as quartermaster of the practical firefighting drills at FDIC when it was located in Cincinnati. He was also a staff member at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy for several decades.

>> JOHN LINSTROM was named national deputy director of mitigation and preparedness services by BCFS Health and Human Services. Linstrom will establish and execute key partnerships with federal and state governments focused on bolstering emergency response readiness and capacity across the nation. He has more than 30 years of experience in emergency management and has responded to thousands of emergencies including the 9/11 World Trade Center attack; Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Dolly, Ike and Gustav; and the Haiti earthquake. A former firefighter, paramedic, and Task Force Leader for Texas Task Force 1, Linstrom has led national response teams for incident management, forensic mass fatality recovery, and urban search and rescue for nearly 15 years. www.BCFS.net/EMD.

>> MARK HARTWIG, JOY STOVELL, and DAVE TETER were appointed to the California Commission on Emergency Medical Services by Governor Jerry Brown. Hartwig has been chief of the San Bernardino (CA) County Fire District and served as battalion chief and deputy chief at the Rancho Cucamonga (CA) Fire District. Stovell has been a fire engineer and paramedic for the Contra Costa (CA) County Fire Protection District. Teter has served in multiple positions at the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection including battalion chief and paramedic.
