Memorial service October 3-4

The annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service will be held the weekend of October 3-4, 1998, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. (October 4 marks the beginning of National Fire Prevention Week.) The annual tribute, cosponsored by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will be held at the site of the national memorial on the National Fire Academy campus. FEMA transferred responsibility for managing the annual memorial service to the NFFF in 1997 to create a public-private partnership.
